Dee Alarcón, Solano County Superintendent of Schools
The Solano County Office of Education joins the other 57 counties in California as partners with parents and schools to prepare our children for life and the job market. To help schools meet their expectations, county offices are intermediate agencies with the California Department of Education. The Solano County Office of Education serves approximately 68,373 of the five million K-12 students in California. County services play a crucial role in helping to educate children of vastly different backgrounds and widely different needs.
The Solano County Office of Education is taking a leadership role in areas that are strategic to furthering ongoing efforts to secure the future for our children. Six issues, individually and collectively, form the foundation for these efforts:
fiscal responsibility and accountability,
students successfully transitioning from school to work,
engaging parents,
involvement in the legislative process,
planned use of technology, and
inter-agency collaboration.
