The 47th Annual Solano County Elementary School Spelling Bee is open to all fourth through sixth-grade students enrolled in public or private schools within Solano County. All Spelling Bee participants will receive a certificate and gold Spelling Bee medallion for their participation. First and second place county winners will be awarded a trophy along with trophies for their schools and will advance to the California Spelling Bee Championships.

HOW TO PARTICIPATE

All schools must complete submit their School Registration Form by 3:00 PM on Thursday, December 8, 2022. Form MUST be completed by school administrator OR Spelling Bee Advisor.
All participating schools must complete their local Spelling Bee and submit their Participant Registration by 3:00 PM on Friday, February 17, 2023. Form MUST be completed by school administrator OR Spelling Bee Advisor.
Information will be provided to the Spelling Bee Contestant guardians and advisors on the date and time of the Round 1 virtual competition via email. When completing the Contestant Certification Form please be sure to verify the email addresses.
Registered Schools: When a school registers for the Spelling Bee it will automatically populate on this list. If your school is not listed please us the School Registration Form (link above) to register.
 
COMPETITION FORMAT

The Spelling Bee will consist of two rounds:
Round 1 will be a preliminary round held virtually on Wednesday, March 15, 2023 from 4:00 - 7:00 PM and Thursday, March 16, 2023 from 4:00 - 7:00 PM. The top 2 spellers from each school will be eligible to participate in Round 1. Special requests can be made for consideration for earlier times during each day. Each student will be given a list of words to spell with point values based upon the level of difficulty. Spellers will need to have both video and audio capabilities for Round 1.

Round 2 will be the championship round held at Journey Downtown (308 Main Street, Vacaville) on Tuesday, April 11, 2023. Check-in for spellers begins at 5:00 PM and orientation will begin at 5:30 PM in the Green Room with the competition officially starting at 6:15 PM. This will be an in-person competition with limited attendance and potential live streaming capabilities for additional guests.
