Superintendent's Message

Welcome Back to a New School Year

Message from Dr. Nicola Parr
Solano County Superintendent of Schools
Welcome Back to a New School Year

As we begin a new school year, I do so with optimism, gratitude, and a renewed commitment to the students, families, educators, and communities Solano County Office of Education serves throughout the region.

A new school year represents possibility and a chance to learn, build relationships, and create schools where every student feels safe, valued, connected, and inspired to succeed. Yet I also recognize that this new beginning follows a year marked by tragedy, trauma and difficult conversations. Many in our community continue to carry grief, uncertainty, and other emotions. As a leader, a parent, and a member of this community, I know these are not simply news stories. They involve our children, our families, our colleagues, and our neighbors.

What gives me hope is how our community has responded. Across Solano County, educators, families, school districts, healthcare providers, law enforcement, community organizations, faith leaders, and local governments are coming together with a shared commitment to strengthen the systems that support young people. No single organization can do this alone, but together we can make meaningful progress.

This year, we will continue listening, communicating openly, and creating opportunities for our community to help shape solutions. We remain committed to transparency, collaboration, and taking meaningful action while keeping students at the center of every decision we make.

Every child deserves to know they matter. Together, we can continue supporting schools and communities where every student experiences safety, belonging, support, and opportunity.

Thank you to our educators and staff for your unwavering dedication, to our families for your partnership, and to our community partners for standing alongside our schools in support of our youth.

I wish you all a safe, successful, and inspiring school year. Solano County has always been strongest when we come together, and I am confident that will continue to be true. We are, and always will be, better together.

Dr. Nicola Parr, Solano County Superintendent of Schools
