Our special education infant, toddler and preschool programs are designed to provide rich and meaningful educational experiences, based on play that will enhance children's social skills, self-esteem and overall growth and development. We believe that children develop to their maximum potential when we work in partnership with their families. We provide support and guidance to assist families in enhancing their parent-child relationships and positive learning environments at home. In addition to providing specialized instruction and services to children with special needs, we also provide opportunities for interaction with typically developing, same-age peers. This enables children with special needs as valuable contributing members of their community. All community agencies at this school collaborate with each other to offer learning and social experiences for all of the children and families our programs serve.
T. C. McDANIEL ME TOO PROGRAM
For children from Birth to Age 3
The Me Too Program is a comprehensive early intervention program serving children, from birth to age three, who have special needs, and their families. Children who are enrolled in this program have been referred through the North Bay Regional Center (NBRC) Warmline (1-800-646-3268).
As part of California’s Interagency Early Start Program, special education services provided are based on the Individualized Family Service Plan (IFSP), in coordination with other agencies providing early intervention services to eligible children and their families enrolled in the Me Too Program.
The program provides developmental assessments, home visits, parent-toddler classes, speech and language sessions, parent education and support, and other services necessary to meet the family's and child’s individual needs which have been identified in the IFSP.
T. C. McDANIEL - SOLANO COUNTY OFFICE OF EDUCATION
(For children from age 3 through 5 years old)
The preschool classes provided through the Solano County Office of Education provide specialized instruction for children from 3 to 5 years of age who have significant developmental delays in motor, cognitive, language, social, and adaptive skills. Children qualify for this program through the IEP (Individualized Education Program) process in Special Education.
Integration opportunities with typically developing peers are provided in coordination with the preschool classes from the City of Fairfield and T. C. McDaniel's Peer Model Program.
Preschool classes run Monday through Thursday for 4 hours a day. Services are designed to meet the specific needs of each child through the Individualized Education Program (IEP). The curriculum follows the California Preschool Learning Foundation standards to meet the individual needs of each student. Specific teaching and behavioral strategies, communication methods, adapted materials, and guided practice are used to enable preschoolers with special needs to learn and practice new skills and become more independent. Both children with special needs and typically developing children are provided the opportunity to learn and play together in integrated settings. The SCIL (Structured Class for Intensive Learning) class runs M-F, up to 25 hours a week, for students with Autism. The preschool curriculum follows the C-PIN or California Preschool Learning Foundations standards to meet the individual needs of each student.
