Binge Drinking: The Rite of Passage

The Solano County District Attorney and Sol N.E.T. through its Asset Forfeiture funds supported the Solano County Office of Education to create the Binge Drinking documentary. The film crew interviewed experts in the field and recorded testimonials that make this a powerful tool to use against teen binge drinking.

In Solano County alone they have conducted presentations to the following groups: Community members in Benicia; All 10th, 11th, and 12th grade students at Benicia High; All adult school students at the Fairfield-Suisun Adult School; Community members in Vacaville through a showing at Edwards Theater; PTA associations at Tremont Elementary, C.A. Jacobs Middle School and Dixon High School; Community members in Suisun City, high school students at Hogan High School in Vallejo as well as numerous health based organizations. The documentary can be checked out at every library in Solano County.

The documentary has also gone national! National School Products has agreed to promote it as a part of their health catalog. Two high schools in New York have used it to help them combat teen binge drinking. The safety control officer for the Highway Patrol in Kentucky ordered a copy in his community and numerous agencies throughout California have used the documentary for their work, including the Office of Traffic Safety, The Marin Institute, U.C. Irvine, Woodland Joint Unified School District, and Sierra County Health Foundation. The documentary was even shown in New Zealand for an international conference on alcohol issues and the director of health in Guam requested a copy for his use against teen binge drinking on the island.
