STEAM Professional Learning Opportunities

Strengthening Mathematics through Collaborative Teams

 
Solano County Office of Education invites mathematics teachers (Grades 4–12) and any leaders supporting mathematics instruction (teacher leaders, instructional coaches, TOSAs, and site & district administrators) to a FREE two-day series focused on building strong, results-driven collaborative teams to support continuous improvement in mathematics instructional practices and leadership. Grades 1-3 are welcome, but grant funding will not cover subs.
 
Dates: Tuesday, October 6, 2026 & Tuesday, October 20, 2026
Time: 9:00 AM – 3:00 PM   (Lunch is provided)
Location: Solano County Office of Education, 5100 Business Center Drive, Fairfield
 
Reimbursement for Teacher Substitute Costs: School Districts that have signed and completed the Cal-MSCS PL Grant* agreement with the Solano County Office of Education may be eligible for reimbursement of the costs of substitute teachers for 4th-12th grade teacher(s) that have successfully attended BOTH professional learning days. Spots are limited.
 
A copy of Activating the Vision: The Four Keys of Mathematical Leadership will be provided to participants that register by September 18th.
 
*This professional learning series is generously funded through the California Math, Science, and Computer Science (Cal-MSCS) Grant for educators and instructional leaders that support math, science, and computer instruction 4th-12th grade.

Science Fair Support

Science and Engineering Fair: Support for Teachers/Educators

For teachers or educators entering students as a class or large group to the 2027 Solano County Science and Engineering Fair, we’re here to make the process easier! We can help with project brainstorming, timelines, classroom-based fair planning, and managing submissions and waivers. If you need guidance, resources, or logistical support, please reach out to Steph Morgado at SMorgado@SolanoCOE.net.

These informal monthly office hours are a flexible, zero-pressure space to ask questions, pitch ideas, clarify guidelines, and collaborate around best practices.

STEM Shop Grant

 
The Solano County Office of Education has partnered with the Synopsis Outreach Foundation to offer a STEM Shop Event to provide new teachers in Solano County with classroom supplies to kick off the 2026-27 school year. The event is on Thursday, September 17, 2026 from 4:30-5:30pm.
 
Participating teachers will each receive classroom supplies to support STEM instruction (roughly worth $200), learn more about STEM Shop, and interact with STEM activities. 
 
Event Registration: Spots are limited to the first 50 eligible teachers registered - register ASAP to secure your spot!
2026-27 Eligible Teachers: This grant supports newly credentialled TK-12 teachers and teachers working on their credential that are employed and teaching at a public Solano County school. Teachers must be teaching a Science, Technology, Engineering, and/or Math (STEM) course. Elementary teachers are eligible, as long as they also teach STEM within their class.
  • Year 1 Induction Candidates
  • Year 2 Induction Candidates
  • Intern Teachers
  • Long-Term Substitutes working towards a credential
  • Must be teaching a STEM course as part of their assignment
  • Elementary teachers that also teach any STEM subject in their classrooms
